Glass Half Full

These sandals hurt my feet.
Or are my feet hurting me?-
guiding me through the
rocks and concrete.

This pathway of life for me,
that my mind has made up anyway,
has brought enough pain and disappointment.
Why don't I turn away?

Go Back! Go Back, I say!

But I cannot blame the sandals
for the mistakes I've made;
for my feet put courage to the test-
I should never walk away.
